Custom dog tags: size, materials and design guide
VeteranTags makes personalized laser-engraved aluminum dog tags for tributes, celebrations and everyday keepsakes. Every set includes two matching tags and one 23-inch ball chain. You can add words or a photo to the front and back, or leave the back blank at the same price.
What size are the tags?
Each tag measures approximately 1.96 × 1.18 inches, with a thickness of 0.039 inch and a 0.11-inch chain hole. The online designer shows the tag sideways so you can arrange your artwork across it.
What are they made of?
The tags are anodized aluminum. Choose an available color in the designer. Optional silencers fit around the edges; the chain is included in every set. Laser engraving is monochrome, not printed full-color photography.
Can I use different fonts and move each line?
Yes. Add up to 6 lines with up to 20 characters per line. Choose from the supplied fonts for individual lines, adjust size and rotation, and center or reposition your words. Check the preview for readability, spacing and the chain hole.
Can I put a photograph or logo on a dog tag?
Yes. Upload a JPG or PNG that you own or have permission to reproduce. Photos are converted to a monochrome engraving preview. Start with a clear subject and strong contrast; very small details may not reproduce. Read the photo engraving guide before uploading.
Do the two tags have to match?
A set contains two matching tags. To order different designs, create separate designs in your cart. The front and back of each tag can have different artwork.
What should I put on a memorial or celebration tag?
A name, meaningful date, short message or clear portrait is a simple starting point. For a tribute, keep the most important words large enough to read. For a celebration, consider the occasion and a short message. You do not need military-style wording.
How much do personalized tags and shipping cost?

What should I check before ordering?
Review spelling, dates, line breaks, image placement and both sides before confirming. The preview is a design mockup, not a guarantee of photographic detail or exact surface color. Read the custom-item return policy before payment.
